  • School holidays vary by project and country.
  • Only limited programmes take place during the holidays.

  • Exact start dates will be agreed individually with the partner project and host family.
  • Early planning is recommended.

A sports coaching placement can start at any time of the year, but there are a few things to bear in mind:

School holidays can vary depending on the project and location. The school year often starts in mid-January and ends in mid-December. There are usually additional summer or Easter holidays in between, depending on when Easter falls. Many schools are closed during these periods. Many teachers are also on holiday and cannot be supported in the classroom or in teacher training. However, some programmes, albeit in a reduced form, are still offered in a school during the holidays, as the pupils are still present.

An annual rainy season can also make certain activities dependent on the weather.

National holidays or memorial days as well as special times like Ramadan in Muslim countries like Tanzania can influence the start of your project. As soon as we know your planned placement date, we will discuss it with the partner project and therefore also with the host families. You should therefore plan your stay well in advance.
