Several sports-related development projects are currently underway to help young people reach their full potential:
BUYA (Bundesliga youth ambassadors)
The Angaza Sport and Development Centre is part of the Bundesliga Youth Ambassadors Programme, which aims to develop a group of 35 young adults aged 18-25 into confident community leaders as part of a long-term commitment to growing football internationally.
Good health and well being
Through our umbrella project, we use football as a way to bring young people and children together to participate in fun and educational physical games and activities. These activities provide knowledge and practical skills on how to lead positive and healthy lives.
Football academy
Our football academy focuses on the holistic development of football players. The approach includes training players in football skills as well as teaching employability, entrepreneurship and life skills. In addition to player development, we also focus on developing highly competent football coaches, referees, sports injury coaches and football administrators.
Girls and women
This programme is an initiative that aims to provide adolescent girls and young women with access to women’s development activities. These activities aim to build girls’ self-esteem and leadership skills, raise awareness of gender equality, highlight the various issues facing young women in the community and share information. Through a mentoring and role model programme linking younger and older female professionals, we improve girls’ opportunities and prospects, and also promote and facilitate girls’ formal education.Social enterprise
Our social project was created due to funding issues exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Our aim is to achieve greater financial and strategic independence as an organisation, while at the same time making a social impact by developing the employability of young people and creating employment opportunities. This is because most of our youth beneficiaries are unemployed and do not have the necessary skills to find a job.
Education – Promoting digital literacy
In Kenya, young people from informal settlements have little or no access to certain issues and information. This denies them the crucial opportunity that this information can play in their lives. In this project, we are working with informal schools to provide pupils with the necessary computer skills. Through our partners, we distribute laptops to schools and work with teachers and our trainers. Participants also take part in our sports and life skills training.Youth employability and entrepreneurship
We use the Kick for Trade Life-Skills curriculum, a fun and interactive curriculum that uses the power of football to help participants develop important life skills. With a focus on employability and entrepreneurship, the life skills covered in this course are relevant to many areas of life. They are designed to help participants lead healthy and successful lives. The courses are designed to be delivered by trained life skills coaches using a minimum of equipment and resources so that they can be easily delivered in a variety of settings and are as inclusive as possible.
